Psalm 143

Dark place
More than ever God, we need your grace.
Pursued as by an enemy
My spirit faint within me
Have mercy in our misery.
I meditate on you when all is strange
For you don’t change.

Teach me
Hear my prayer and answer quickly.
Anchor me in this fearsome gale
Your righteousness will still prevail
Your unceasing love will never fail.
Help me to follow you when all is strange
For you don’t change.

Open eyes to see your glorious grace
In this dark place.

(I am reliably informed that in the original Hebrew Psalm 143 was two sections of seven lines and then two closing lines. Lines 3-5 of the first section express distress and lines 3-5 of the second section express trust. The last two lines have a similar theme to the first two.)
